I think The Plague is supposed to be reminiscent of Bernard the Bard with its double height characters. It has some pretty big problems though.
You play as a mage searching for the source of a plague that is destroying his kingdom. There's some basic combat using spells, but it's a bit simpler even than usual Zeux combat.
It's understandable that it doesn't look as good as Bernard the Bard. Pulling off graphics like that isn't easy. The problem is the game is broken and you get stuck in a battle near end of the game. Many boards after that are broken and don't link to each other.
There's enough content that the game can be called complete, but it's unbeatable because of all the missing board transitions. Kind of a damn shame. Even more that the ending reveals the game was supposed to be part 1 of a series that never happened.
Too bad. I enjoy simplistic little games like this sometimes. Wish this kind of thing was still being produced, though with some bug testing.
