"Whoa, never been so much fun!"

Probably the most obscure of Darren Hewer's titles, Rangest (an anagram of "strange") sits in the shadow of the much more famous "Darkness", but still provides a humorous experience. While Darkness is famous for having slightly edgy humor and throwback ZZT style graphics, Rangest features totally random, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink style humor (examples being - a table with kibbles n' bits on it, gigantic strange smiling faces popping up all over the place, cars hanging from a tree), lots of funny soundbytes, a Freakish Town influenced soundtrack. The gameplay is rather limited, it just consists of interaction with people and background items, one of which will open a portal to the next room, with more zaniness to wade through. Although, if you're not careful, you can die at some points :P

Still a great title, that sadly went undernoticed.

Undernoticed! I'LL SAY. Really though, I hope you don't mind--just to bring back this game back to general attention. This happens to lots of MZX titles, I think. A very amusing piece of work that deserves some good ol' MZX time.
