Man! What a cool game! I'm sure if it had all 10 of those locations on the map, it would be nice and BIG! But the game was never finished. :( However, the game was fun while it lasted. It's a little like mario, with the items and the blocks to bump, especially the creature you get to ride. This game has rather decent graphics and a stable side-scrolling engine. It's worth playing, believe me!

Back in the day, way back, this was my favorite MegaZeux game ever. One playthrough and it's probably easy to tell why. Mind you, this DEMO is larger than nearly every complete MegaZeux sidescrolling game - Adlo alone outsizes this demo.

There's lots of care in this game's design. Although the font is an abortion, the graphics are decent in some places (if too busy in many others) and the attention paid to graphics despite the creators' limited talents makes up for it somewhat. The bosses are huge, nearly each sub-level is completely different than the last, and there are several animation frames in the jump!

As for gameplay, the nature of a 1x1 sidescroller hampers things. Keep in mind that this is fairly old - pre-spider - so it's understandable. One can get damaged a lot in certain areas due to near-no immunity time, but health is appropriately set to high levels. The level design is decent, and the jumping and slashing engines are fair for the time. The gliding, horeshoe-clad "horse" is a nice touch, and the copious bonus levels are nice, though they could have been hidden better and spaced farther apart.

It's a solid game. It's long. It's also sadly incomplete, but what's there is enough to keep anyone wanting a decent game satisfied.

Out of the varied, flawed bag of games Eon made, this is definitely one of the best. Tae Kwon Do Joe and Fatal Myth are also worth looks, though unlike with this game your personal enjoyment with those will hinge on whether they're novel enough to keep interest until the end.

ADDENDUM/REVISION: That I'd forgotten to mention anything about the sound probably said a lot. I hadn't played this in quite a while, and oh boy, the sound effects are irritating and loud. The injury scream and jumping noises deserve particular "notice". Nostalgia blinds... Overall, though, the game's probably worth about 3.5/5 mostly for the level design (neither brutal nor trivial to traverse) and the substantial length.

(3.5, rounded up to 4 stars)

This is an old time classic, with huge, well-thought-out levels but eye-rending visuals, awful use of sound effects (you'll get sick of the jump sound less than a minute into this), some awful controls (the SWORD) and some infuriating level designs tarnish its charm quite a bit.

But it's still better than Adlo.
